Zone is a rising artist from Los Angeles, California. The success of singles like Balia and his EP Love Zone has amassed him quite the following. Fans became further excited by his latest single “Minute”, which served as the lead single to his anticipated new album. Danger Zone is the most recent project in the journey of the LA mc, where he continues to progress and grow as an artist.
Zone’s style and delivery is undoubtedly entertaining, but he fails to blow anyone’s mind away lyrically. Despite being slightly annoying at times, his nasally high pitched voice serves as a tool to enhance the overall listening experience. His flows are super enjoyable as he always switches up speed and tempos to keep the listener on the edge of their seat. When it comes to the bars, Zone blends in with most other rappers as he mostly covers the repetitive beaten up subjects of girls, money, and drugs. Another dangling issue is that Zone’s pen game is feeble as he lacks true lyrical precision and craftiness. As a whole, Zone’s fun to listen to, but his words lack any substance and originality.
On the production side of things, the instrumentals are well crafted and sonically diverse. Most of the beats are multi-layered and complex, which gives each song a distinct feel. In addition to the profound instrumentals, the pitch changes in Zone’s voice are well placed, strengthening each track’s vibe. The production hardly fails on the album, which ties the entire body of work together cohesively.
In summary, Danger Zone is an enjoyable adventure, but it lacks the components which make a truly great album. Zone’s style is one of a kind, but he needs to create a signature lyrical flair to separate himself from his rivals.
